Michael Caligiuri is an NK cell immunologist and past AACR president who leads City of Hope's hospital.
Michael Caligiuri is President of City of Hope National Medical Center, Deana and Steve Campbell Physician-in-Chief, and Treasurer of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), of which he is a past president. A physician-scientist specialising in natural killer cells, leukaemia and immunotherapy, he is known for work on natural killer cell biology, IL-15 and NK-based immunotherapy, and formerly directed Ohio State's cancer centre. His papers include a Blood review of human natural killer cells and a Blood study showing CD56bright natural killer cells in human lymph nodes are activated by T cell-derived IL-2, linking adaptive and innate immunity. His work bears on acute myeloid leukaemia, CAR-NK therapy and engineered cytokines.
