Transplant pioneer who built City of Hope's cell therapy programme, one of the largest in the country.
Stephen Forman is Director of the Hematologic Malignancies Research Institute and Francis and Kathleen McNamara Distinguished Chair at City of Hope. A haematologist specialising in haematopoietic cell transplantation, CAR-T and lymphoma, he led City of Hope's bone marrow transplant programme for decades and built its cell therapy programme, one of the largest in the country. His papers include a Blood report of phase 1 studies of central memory-derived CD19 CAR T-cell therapy after autologous transplant in B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma and a Blood commentary on the myth of the second remission of acute leukaemia in adults. He directs haematologic malignancies research including CAR-T development for lymphoma and leukaemia and off-the-shelf cell therapy.
