Neurosurgeon who delivers CAR-T cells directly into the brain in City of Hope's glioma trials.
Behnam Badie is Chief of the Division of Neurosurgery at City of Hope. A neurosurgeon-scientist specialising in neurosurgical oncology and glioma, he co-leads City of Hope's brain tumour CAR-T programme and is responsible for intracranial and intraventricular delivery of CAR-T cells in the IL13Rα2 trials. His papers include a Clinical Cancer Research report on the bioactivity and safety of IL13Rα2-redirected CAR CD8+ T cells in recurrent glioblastoma and the New England Journal of Medicine case of regression of glioblastoma after CAR T-cell therapy. His work also covers fluorescence-guided surgery for glioma and glioblastoma.
