Mariana Chavez-MacGregor is Professor of Breast Medical Oncology and Health Services Research at MD Anderson Cancer Center and SWOG Executive Officer for International Affairs. A medical oncologist and health services researcher, she studies treatment timing, disparities and outcomes in breast cancer and how care is delivered. Her papers include a JAMA Oncology study of delayed initiation of adjuvant chemotherapy among patients with breast cancer and a JAMA Oncology evaluation of COVID-19 outcomes in US patients with or without cancer. She leads SWOG's international work within the SWOG Cancer Research Network, with a focus on triple-negative and HR-positive breast cancer and cooperative group trials.
