Brigitte C. Widemann is Chief of the Pediatric Oncology Branch and Special Advisor to the NCI Director for Childhood Cancer at the National Cancer Institute. She is a paediatric oncologist known for the neurofibromatosis type 1 plexiform neurofibroma studies that led to selumetinib's approval, the first approved drug for children with the condition. Her selected paper reports selumetinib in children with inoperable plexiform neurofibromas. She now leads NCI's paediatric oncology branch and its rare tumour initiatives, with interests spanning neuroblastoma and sarcomas.
