Prostate oncologist studying how tumours transform to escape hormone therapy and how to target them with radioligands.
Rahul Aggarwal is Associate Director for Clinical Sciences at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. A medical oncologist specialising in prostate cancer, neuroendocrine prostate cancer and PSMA theranostics, he leads UCSF's early-phase and prostate cancer clinical research and defined treatment-emergent small-cell neuroendocrine prostate cancer, the way tumours transform to escape hormone therapy. His papers include a multi-institutional prospective study characterising that disease clinically and genomically, and a report on heterogeneous flare in PSMA PET tracer uptake after starting androgen pathway blockade. He leads PSMA radioligand and combination trials, including with lutetium-177 vipivotide tetraxetan.
