Nuclear medicine leader who helped bring PSMA PET and radioligand therapy to the United States.
Johannes Czernin is Chief of the Ahmanson Translational Theranostics Division at UCLA, within the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, and editor-in-chief of the Journal of Nuclear Medicine. A nuclear medicine physician specialising in PSMA theranostics and PET imaging, he co-led the UCLA and UCSF prospective PSMA PET trials behind FDA approval and the US experience with 177Lu-PSMA-617, now known as lutetium-177 vipivotide tetraxetan. His papers include the JAMA Oncology prospective single-arm trial assessing 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET accuracy in localising recurrent prostate cancer and an Annual Review of Medicine article on molecular imaging in the development of cancer therapeutics. He helped bring PSMA PET and radioligand therapy to the United States.
