Jean-Yves Blay is Director General of Centre Léon Bérard in Lyon and President of UNICANCER, the French network of cancer centres. His specialisms are sarcoma, GIST, rare cancers and precision oncology, with a focus on the KIT target and imatinib. He coordinates the French NETSARC reference network for sarcomas, and his trials include studies of imatinib duration in GIST and the ProfiLER precision oncology programme. His papers include the ESMO consensus report on the management of gastrointestinal stromal tumours, the INVICTUS phase 3 trial of ripretinib in advanced GIST, and a phase 3 trial comparing doxorubicin alone with intensified doxorubicin plus ifosfamide as first-line treatment for advanced soft-tissue sarcoma.
