Partha Basu is Head of the Early Detection, Prevention and Infections Branch at the International Agency for Research on Cancer. A gynaecologic oncologist, he leads IARC's early detection and prevention work, which is central to the WHO cervical cancer elimination strategy, running implementation research on HPV vaccination and screening, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. His publications include a report on HPV vaccination and cervical screening across Asian National Cancer Centers Alliance member countries, a description of IARC's role in strengthening cancer prevention and early detection, and an argument for gender-neutral HPV vaccination. His interests include HPV DNA testing and self-sampling in low-resource settings.
