Kinase-switch-control company behind ripretinib for GIST and vimseltinib for tenosynovial giant cell tumour; bought by Ono Pharmaceutical in 2024.
Deciphera Pharmaceuticals, based in Waltham, Massachusetts, is the kinase-switch-control company behind ripretinib for gastrointestinal stromal tumour and vimseltinib for tenosynovial giant cell tumour, and it was bought by Ono Pharmaceutical in 2024 for around 2.4 billion dollars. Ripretinib, sold as Qinlock, was approved in 2020 on the INVICTUS trial, with INTRIGUE and INSIGHT following, and vimseltinib, sold as Romvimza, was approved on 14 February 2025 on the MOTION trial. OnCo links it to GIST, soft tissue sarcomas and tenosynovial giant cell tumour, and to both drug records. Whether switch-control inhibition yields further drugs beyond these two rare indications is the open question now that it sits inside a Japanese pharma. Ripretinib and vimseltinib have their own pages.
