Medical device giant whose TheraSphere glass microspheres deliver yttrium-90 radioembolisation in liver cancer.
Boston Scientific, based in Marlborough, Massachusetts, and listed as BSX, is the medical device company whose TheraSphere glass microspheres deliver yttrium-90 radioembolisation in liver cancer. TheraSphere has held FDA approval for hepatocellular carcinoma since 2021, was studied in the EPOCH trial in colorectal liver metastases, which was positive for progression-free survival, and is being tested in combination with immunotherapy, and the company also sells drug-eluting embolic beads and other interventional oncology devices. OnCo links it to hepatocellular carcinoma and colorectal cancer and to the radioembolisation and transarterial chemoembolisation technology records. Whether device-based liver-directed therapy keeps its role as systemic options improve is the open question. The technology pages carry the trial detail.
