Head and neck cancer leader who established organ-preserving chemoradiation and led ASCO in 2021-22.
Everett Vokes is Chair of Medicine at the University of Chicago and served as President of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) for 2021 to 2022. A medical oncologist specialising in head and neck and lung cancer, his trials of induction chemotherapy and chemoradiotherapy shaped head and neck cancer treatment and established organ-preserving chemoradiation. His papers include a New England Journal of Medicine review of head and neck cancer and a Journal of Clinical Oncology report on weekly carboplatin and paclitaxel followed by concomitant chemoradiotherapy as curative, organ-preserving therapy for advanced head and neck cancer.
