Co-created the DNA methylation classifier that changed how brain tumours are diagnosed worldwide.
Andreas von Deimling is Head of Neuropathology at Heidelberg University Hospital and the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ). His specialisms are neuropathology, brain tumour classification and DNA methylation profiling, with a research interest in IDH1 and IDH2 in glioma and glioblastoma. With Stefan Pfister and David Capper he developed the Heidelberg DNA methylation-based classifier for central nervous system tumours, published in Nature and now embedded in the WHO classification. The classifier changed how brain tumours are diagnosed worldwide, and his publications are listed on PubMed.
