Albert Koong is a radiation oncologist leading MD Anderson's radiation department, with a focus on pancreatic cancer and SBRT.
Albert Koong is Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center. A radiation oncologist and physician-scientist, his research covers stereotactic body radiotherapy for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and the tumour hypoxia and unfolded-protein-response biology that shapes radiation response. His papers include a phase I study of stereotactic radiosurgery in locally advanced pancreatic cancer and a phase II study of conventionally fractionated radiotherapy followed by a stereotactic radiosurgery boost in the same setting. He now leads the radiation department at MD Anderson, working across SBRT and modern image-guided external beam techniques.
