Mundipharma is the privately held network of companies associated with the Sackler family outside the United States, known for opioid pain medicines used in cancer care and, in Europe, for oncology products such as the antifungal and haematology lines it licenses.
Mundipharma comprises independent associated companies, with the German business in Limburg an der Lahn founded in 1967, that market pain medicines including controlled-release oxycodone and buprenorphine, as well as oncology, haematology and anti-infective products in many countries. Its research arm, Mundipharma Research GmbH, has led phase 3 trials in cancer pain and supportive care registered on ClinicalTrials.gov. Wikipedia records that bendamustine is marketed in Germany as Ribomustin by Astellas's licensee Mundipharma International, and ClinicalTrials.gov lists Mundipharma K.K. and Taiwan Mundipharma as sponsors of pralatrexate trials in peripheral T-cell lymphoma (NCT02013362, NCT03150602) and Mundipharma Research as sponsor of early trials of tinostamustine and forodesine in blood cancers.
An East German chemotherapy rediscovered in the 2000s that became the backbone partner for rituximab in follicular, mantle cell and Waldenström lymphomas.
Pralatrexate was the first drug approved specifically for relapsed peripheral T-cell lymphoma; about a third of patients respond.
