Empyrean Medical Systems develops radiotherapy devices built around MOVHEET, an approach from MD Anderson Cancer Center researchers that uses magnetic fields to sculpt high-energy electron beams and is designed for both conventional and FLASH dose rates. In 2022 the company acquired Vektra, a robotically assisted 50 to 120 kV platform for brachytherapy and intraoperative radiotherapy described as FLASH capable; it is not for sale and is pending FDA 510(k) clearance. Its first shipped product, Artemis 320, is a preclinical cabinet x-ray irradiator intended to replace caesium irradiators, with a first US installation announced in June 2026. In January 2026 Hamilton Reserve Bank took an equity stake and agreed to arrange a credit line of up to USD 20 million; the release states MD Anderson owns 15 percent and Mayo Clinic is also a shareholder.
