Lanreotide more than halved the risk of progression in gut and pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours.
CLARINET, trial NCT00353496 sponsored by Ipsen and reported in 2014, showed that lanreotide more than halved the risk of progression in non-functioning grade 1 to 2 gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumours. It randomised 204 patients to lanreotide 120 mg or placebo and met its primary progression-free survival endpoint, with the median not reached in the lanreotide arm, and it is the basis of lanreotide's antiproliferative label. OnCo links it to neuroendocrine tumours, the somatostatin analogues record, Ipsen and Martyn E. Caplin. Whether patients with stable disease need treatment at diagnosis or can safely wait for progression is the question the trial's design, which enrolled many stable patients, leaves open.
