Led ARASENS and SPARTAN, trials that established darolutamide triplet therapy and apalutamide for prostate cancer.
Matthew Smith was principal investigator of ARASENS, which showed darolutamide added to androgen deprivation and docetaxel improves survival in metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer, and of SPARTAN, which established apalutamide for non-metastatic castration-resistant disease. He has led landmark studies of bone loss and denosumab in men on hormone therapy.
