Transplant pioneer who developed plerixafor for stem-cell mobilisation and CD7 CAR-T for T-cell leukaemia.
John F. DiPersio is the Virginia E. and Sam J. Golman Professor of Medicine and Director of the Center for Gene and Cellular Immunotherapy at Siteman Cancer Center, Washington University. He is a transplant pioneer known for developing plerixafor for stem cell mobilisation, JAK inhibition for graft-versus-host disease and fratricide-resistant CD7-directed CAR-T for T-cell leukaemia. His selected paper reports plerixafor plus G-CSF versus placebo plus G-CSF to mobilise haematopoietic stem cells for autologous transplantation in multiple myeloma. A former chief of oncology at WashU, he continues to work on allogeneic and autologous transplantation and CAR-T.
