Defined how prostate cancer trials are run and read, from PSA working-group criteria to circulating tumour cell biomarkers.
Howard I. Scher is a Member of the Genitourinary Oncology Service and Head of the Biomarker Development Program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He is known for defining how prostate cancer trials are run and read, leading the Prostate Cancer Clinical Trials Working Group criteria used across the field and the Prostate Cancer Foundation clinical trials consortium. He showed that the AR-V7 variant in circulating tumour cells predicts resistance to abiraterone and enzalutamide. His selected papers report enzalutamide in prostate cancer after chemotherapy and AR-V7 on circulating tumour cells as a treatment-specific biomarker in castration-resistant prostate cancer.
