Treated the first adult CLL patients with CAR-T and reported a decade of durable remissions.
David L. Porter is the Jodi Fisher Horowitz Professor in Leukemia Care Excellence and Director of Cell Therapy and Transplant at the Abramson Cancer Center, University of Pennsylvania. He is known for treating the first adult patients with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia using CAR-T cells, leading the clinical side of Penn's first CTL019 studies. His selected paper reports decade-long leukaemia remissions with persistence of CD4-positive CAR T cells in long-term responders. He now leads cell therapy and stem cell transplant at Penn, spanning CAR-T for leukaemia and allogeneic transplantation.
