Bruce Stillman discovered how DNA replication starts, the process cancer cells push into overdrive.
Bruce W. Stillman is President and Chief Executive Officer of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, which he has led since 1994. He is a molecular biologist known for discovering how DNA replication starts, identifying the origin recognition complex and the mechanisms of chromatin assembly during replication. His selected paper describes ATP-dependent recognition of eukaryotic origins of DNA replication by a multiprotein complex. His research on DNA replication, chromatin and genome stability bears on the process that cancer cells push into overdrive.
