Alphabet's AlphaFold-derived drug design company; its first AI-designed oncology candidate was cleared for human trials in January 2026 after a $2.1B raise.
Isomorphic Labs, based in London, is Alphabet's AlphaFold-derived drug design company, whose first AI-designed oncology candidate was cleared for human trials in January 2026 after a raise of about 2.1 billion dollars. It co-developed AlphaFold 3 with Google DeepMind, built the IsoDDE design engine, and had ISM8969 cleared by the FDA for a first-in-human study on 28 January 2026, with an initial pipeline in oncology and immunology and partnerships with Eli Lilly and Novartis. OnCo links it to AI-driven drug and target discovery, AlphaFold 3 and de novo designed protein binders, and to the idea of AI-designed proteins that grip the floppy parts of cancer drivers. The valley of death between lab and product is the bottleneck its first trial now enters. Whether structure prediction shortens development or only the discovery step is the open question.
