PanCAN is the leading pancreatic cancer patient organisation; it pioneered free tumour molecular profiling for patients (Know Your Tumor) and runs an adaptive platform trial for a disease with few options.
Founded 1999. Know Your Tumor showed that ~25% of pancreatic cancers have actionable alterations and that matched therapy improved survival (Pishvaian, Lancet Oncol 2020), influencing NCCN's recommendation for germline and somatic testing in all patients. Precision Promise is a Bayesian adaptive phase 2/3 platform (first readouts 2024). PanCAN's Patient Services provide free case management, clinical trial finder and dietitian access; its advocacy helped double federal pancreatic cancer research funding.
Pancreatic cancer's share of cancer deaths rises because it is standing still while others improve; the 2014 projection to 2030 already made it the second cause of cancer death in the UK's peer countries, and this is the funding argument charities on both sides of the Atlantic use.
