A cancer-killing virus instilled into the bladder produced complete responses in three quarters of patients whose BCG had failed, with almost no serious side effects.
BOND-003, trial NCT04452591 sponsored by CG Oncology and reported in 2024 with publication in Lancet Oncology in 2025, showed that a cancer-killing virus instilled into the bladder produced complete responses in three quarters of patients with BCG-unresponsive high-risk non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer with carcinoma in situ, with almost no serious side effects. In the single-arm cohort C of 110 patients, complete response at any time was 75.2 percent and 41.8 percent at 24 months, with no severe treatment-related events, and a rolling licence application is under way in 2026. OnCo links it to bladder cancer, oncolytic viruses, cretostimogene grenadenorepvec and the BCG-unresponsive term. It is a single-arm registrational study, with the randomised PIVOT-006 and CORE-008 ongoing, so durability against comparators is the open question.
