CG Oncology, based in Irvine, California, and listed as CGON, developed cretostimogene grenadenorepvec, an oncolytic virus for early bladder cancer, and is filing for approval in 2026. Its programme spans BOND-003 in BCG-unresponsive carcinoma in situ, PIVOT-006 in intermediate-risk disease and CORE-008 in BCG-naive patients, and the company went public in 2024. OnCo links it to bladder and urothelial cancer, to the cretostimogene drug record, and to the idea of oncolytic viruses that make interleukin-12 only inside the tumour. Whether an intravesical oncolytic virus can become the standard after BCG failure, ahead of gene therapy and IL-15 competitors, is the open question. Cretostimogene has its own page.
Cretostimogene is a virus engineered to multiply only in bladder cancer cells with a broken RB pathway, instilled into the bladder. It cleared carcinoma in situ in 75% of BCG-unresponsive patients.
