Jianming Xu led the Chinese stomach cancer trials of sintilimab, the ADC disitamab vedotin and other domestic drugs, in the country with the most stomach cancer patients.
Jianming Xu is Professor of Gastrointestinal Oncology at the Fifth Medical Center of the Chinese PLA General Hospital in Beijing. He is best known as principal investigator of ORIENT-16, the randomised trial of sintilimab plus chemotherapy in first-line unresectable gastric and gastro-oesophageal junction cancer reported in JAMA, and of the pivotal gastric cancer study of the HER2 antibody-drug conjugate disitamab vedotin. He has led many Chinese phase 3 trials in gastric, colorectal and oesophageal cancer and is a leading figure in the CSCO gastric cancer guidelines. His trials have brought domestic drugs to the country with the most stomach cancer patients.
