Studies how cancer wastes the whole body and how to stop it, one of the field's neglected problems.
Tobias Janowitz is Associate Professor at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Cancer Center and a Medical Oncologist at Northwell Health. He is a physician-scientist who studies how cancer wastes the whole body, one of the field's neglected problems, dissecting the hepatic and neuroendocrine responses to tumours that drive cachexia. His selected paper reviews the mediators, signalling and metabolic pathways of cancer cachexia. His laboratory now works on metabolic interventions to preserve function during cancer, with a focus on pancreatic cancer.
