Shaji Kumar is Professor of Medicine and Chair of the Myeloma, Amyloidosis and Dysproteinemia Group at Mayo Clinic, and leads myeloma trials for the ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group. A haematologist leading myeloma clinical research at Mayo Clinic Rochester, he chaired BELLINI, the trial of venetoclax in t(11;14) myeloma, led quadruplet studies and co-authored the International Myeloma Working Group response and minimal residual disease criteria. His papers include the Lancet Oncology consensus criteria for response and minimal residual disease assessment in multiple myeloma and the BELLINI randomised, double-blind phase 3 trial of venetoclax or placebo with bortezomib and dexamethasone in relapsed or refractory myeloma. His work links venetoclax and MRD testing to multiple myeloma.
