Biomedical engineer whose Koch Institute lab pioneered controlled drug delivery and nanomedicine, including approaches to cancer therapy.
Robert S. Langer is David H. Koch (1962) Institute Professor at MIT and a faculty member of the Koch Institute. His laboratory works at the interface of biotechnology and materials science, developing polymers and lipids for controlled delivery of proteins, DNA and RNA, studying inhibition of tumour blood-vessel growth, and engineering tissues. He is among the most cited engineers in history and a co-founder of Moderna.
