Cancer biologist who characterised truncated HER2 (p95HER2) and develops p95HER2-targeted T-cell engagers.
Joaquín Arribas is Director of the Hospital del Mar Research Institute in Barcelona and an ICREA Professor, having led the Growth Factors group at the Vall d'Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) for two decades. His specialisms are HER2 biology, resistance to anti-HER2 therapy and T-cell bispecifics. He characterised truncated HER2, known as p95HER2, showed how it confers resistance to trastuzumab in HER2-positive breast cancer, and develops T-cell engagers directed against it. His papers include a study of defective cyclin B1 induction in acquired resistance to trastuzumab emtansine, a Nature Communications report on CAR T cells targeting p95HER2 in solid tumours, and a Cancer Discovery paper on detecting early-stage breast cancer in breast milk. His publications are listed on PubMed.
