Funda Meric-Bernstam runs the world's largest phase 1 programme and led the tumour-agnostic HER2 ADC study.
Funda Meric-Bernstam is Chair of Investigational Cancer Therapeutics at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she runs the world's largest phase 1 programme. A surgical oncologist turned early-drug-development leader, she directs MD Anderson's Institute for Personalized Cancer Therapy and chaired DESTINY-PanTumor02, the trial that led to the tumour-agnostic approval of trastuzumab deruxtecan for HER2 IHC 3+ solid tumours. Her papers report the primary results of the DESTINY-PanTumor02 phase II trial of trastuzumab deruxtecan in HER2-expressing solid tumours and the feasibility of large-scale genomic testing to enrol patients onto genomically matched trials. Her work spans precision oncology, comprehensive genomic profiling and companion diagnostics.
