Fiona Blackhall is Professor of Thoracic Oncology at the University of Manchester and a consultant at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. Her specialisms are lung cancer, small-cell lung cancer and biomarker-driven trials. She leads thoracic oncology research in Manchester with trials in small-cell and non-small-cell lung cancer and studies of blood-based biomarkers. Her papers include an analysis of the prognostic value of circulating tumour cells in limited-stage small-cell lung cancer within the CONVERT radiotherapy trial, the randomised ERCC1 biomarker trial comparing platinum and non-platinum therapy in advanced non-small-cell lung cancer, and a review of liquid biopsy as a route to improved care in small-cell lung cancer.
