Andreas Trumpp is a stem cell biologist studying how dormant cancer cells seed metastases and resist therapy.
Andreas Trumpp is Head of Stem Cells and Cancer at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and Managing Director of HI-STEM in Heidelberg. A stem cell biologist, his specialisms are cancer stem cells, metastasis and circulating tumour cells. His group identified metastasis-initiating cells among the circulating tumour cells of breast cancer patients, reported in Nature Biotechnology as a population able to seed metastases in a xenograft assay. He studies how dormant cancer cells seed metastases and resist therapy, alongside dormancy in haematopoietic and leukaemic stem cells. His publications are listed on PubMed.
