NCI oncologist who led the trial that showed atezolizumab produces lasting responses in alveolar soft part sarcoma, the first approved treatment for this rare cancer.
Alice Chen leads early clinical trials at the National Cancer Institute's Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis and co-led the NCI-MATCH precision medicine trial. She was first author of the 2023 New England Journal of Medicine report of the phase 2 trial in which the PD-L1 antibody atezolizumab produced durable responses in about a quarter of patients with advanced alveolar soft part sarcoma, the basis of the drug's approval for the disease.
