Adaptive Biotechnologies, based in Seattle and listed as ADPT, makes clonoSEQ, the FDA-cleared sequencing test that finds one leukaemia cell in a million and now guides treatment in acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, myeloma and chronic lymphocytic leukaemia. clonoSEQ sequences IGH, IGK, IGL and T-cell receptor clonotypes and was the first FDA-cleared next-generation sequencing test for measurable residual disease, in 2018 for ALL and myeloma and in 2020 for CLL; it serves as the MRD endpoint in trials and in routine practice, and the company also runs the T-Detect immune medicine business. OnCo links it to NGS-based MRD testing, to the bottleneck of dormant cells and minimal residual disease, and to ideas on reference materials for residual disease tests. Whether MRD can become a regulatory endpoint for approval is the open question. clonoSEQ has its own page.
A DNA test that counts leftover leukaemia, myeloma or lymphoma cells down to one in a million, used to decide whether treatment has really worked.
