RESORCE, trial NCT01774344 sponsored by Bayer and reported in 2017, delivered the first second-line survival benefit in liver cancer, with regorafenib after progression on sorafenib. It randomised 573 patients who had tolerated sorafenib to regorafenib or placebo and met its primary overall survival endpoint, establishing sequential kinase inhibitor therapy as a strategy in hepatocellular carcinoma. OnCo links it to hepatocellular carcinoma and to the regorafenib drug record. Because entry required prior tolerance of sorafenib, and first-line treatment has since shifted to immunotherapy combinations, whether the result still applies to patients who reach regorafenib by a different route is the open question.
