NEOGB is an Indian phase 3 trial testing whether chemotherapy before surgery improves three-year survival in gallbladder cancer that is still removable but locally advanced. It opened in January 2025 and plans 114 patients.
NEOGB (NCT06712420) randomises patients with locally advanced but resectable gallbladder carcinoma to neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by curative surgery or to upfront surgery. Eligibility includes post-cholecystectomy gallbladder cancer with residual disease on imaging, a history of bile spillage or piecemeal removal during the index cholecystectomy, and regional lymph node involvement on imaging. The primary endpoint is improvement in three-year overall survival; 114 patients are planned at three Indian sites, recruitment began in January 2025 and primary completion is listed for April 2028. It complements POLCAGB (unresectable locally advanced disease) and OPT-IN (incidental T2 to T3 disease) as the third randomised test of neoadjuvant treatment in gallbladder cancer.
