Dr. Sonja Optendrenk is the impartial chair of the Gemeinsamer Bundesausschuss (G-BA), Germany's highest decision-making body in statutory health insurance. The G-BA determines benefit coverage and commissions assessments, including early benefit assessments of new cancer drugs under AMNOG, from IQWiG. Her role is regulatory and policy leadership rather than clinical research.
