Led CheckMate 577, the first trial to show adjuvant immunotherapy helps oesophageal cancer patients with residual disease.
Ronan Kelly (Baylor Sammons Cancer Center) was principal investigator of CheckMate 577, which showed adjuvant nivolumab doubles disease-free survival in oesophageal and junctional cancer patients with residual disease after chemoradiotherapy and surgery, the first adjuvant immunotherapy approval in a GI cancer. He continues to lead perioperative immunotherapy trials in upper GI cancers.
