Paediatric oncologist who led the COG trial showing blinatumomab helps children with standard-risk leukaemia.
Rachel Rau is Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Seattle Children's and the University of Washington and Study Chair of COG AALL1731 within the Children's Oncology Group (COG). A paediatric haematologist-oncologist specialising in paediatric acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, immunotherapy and leukaemia genomics, she led the COG trial that found adding blinatumomab to chemotherapy helps children with newly diagnosed standard-risk B-ALL. Her papers report blinatumomab in standard-risk B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in children in the New England Journal of Medicine and a Blood study of DOT1L as a therapeutic target in DNMT3A-mutant acute myeloid leukaemia. Her work centres on CD19-directed immunotherapy in childhood leukaemia.
