Janja Ocvirk is Medical Director (Strokovna direktorica) of the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana and a professor of medical oncology. Her clinical research has focused on systemic therapy of melanoma and colorectal cancer, including participation in international trials of targeted agents and immunotherapy. Her papers cover metastatic melanoma treated with vemurafenib alone or combined with cobimetinib, the AVEX randomised phase 3 trial of bevacizumab plus capecitabine versus capecitabine alone in elderly patients with untreated metastatic colorectal cancer, and biomarkers of outcome in first-line immune checkpoint inhibitor treatment of metastatic melanoma. She is responsible for the clinical direction of Slovenia's national cancer institute.
