Brazil's most prominent GI oncologist, a former MD Anderson faculty member who built oncology programmes at Sírio-Libanês and ICESP.
Paulo Hoff is a medical oncologist specialising in gastrointestinal cancer and a leader of Brazilian oncology through Hospital Sírio-Libanês, the University of São Paulo and Oncologia D'Or. A former MD Anderson faculty member, he led research on capecitabine and colorectal cancer there before returning to Brazil, where he directed the oncology centre at Sírio-Libanês and the São Paulo State Cancer Institute and later led Oncologia D'Or. His publications include the trial comparing oral capecitabine with intravenous fluorouracil plus leucovorin as first-line treatment for metastatic colorectal cancer. He is Brazil's most prominent gastrointestinal oncologist, with interests in colorectal cancer, clinical trials and oncology leadership.
