Led the DRUP trial giving off-label targeted drugs by genomic match, and developed organoid-based testing.
Emile Voest is a medical oncologist and group leader at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI-AvL). His specialisms are precision oncology, organoids and off-label drug access trials, and he works with patient-derived organoids, whole-genome sequencing and functional ex vivo drug testing. He founded the Dutch DRUP trial, which gives off-label targeted drugs by genomic match, and the Hartwig Medical Foundation whole-genome sequencing programme. His Nature paper on the Drug Rediscovery protocol described how this approach expands the use of existing anticancer drugs. He also developed patient-derived organoid co-cultures to test how tumours respond to immunotherapy. His publications are listed on PubMed.
