Gastrointestinal oncologist who led landmark trials of perioperative chemotherapy in gastric and oesophageal cancer.
David Cunningham is a consultant medical oncologist and Director of Clinical Research at The Royal Marsden. His specialisms are gastrointestinal oncology, oesophago-gastric cancer and colorectal cancer. He led the MAGIC trial of perioperative chemotherapy in gastric cancer, reported in the New England Journal of Medicine as perioperative chemotherapy versus surgery alone for resectable gastro-oesophageal cancer, and the REAL-2 trial. He has directed clinical research at the Royal Marsden across gastric and gastro-oesophageal junction, oesophageal and colorectal cancers. His publications are listed on PubMed.
