Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret is Kenya's second national referral hospital; through the AMPATH partnership led by Indiana University it built one of East Africa's strongest public cancer programmes, adding radiotherapy in western Kenya at the Chandaria centre.
Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital is Kenya's second national referral hospital and the teaching hospital of Moi University School of Medicine. Through AMPATH (the Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare), a consortium led by Indiana University with Moi University and other North American partners, it developed a comprehensive oncology programme with medical oncology, paediatric oncology, palliative care, a pharmacy and pathology infrastructure, and the Chandaria Cancer and Chronic Diseases Centre, which added radiotherapy in western Kenya. AMPATH Oncology has published widely on breast and cervical cancer screening, Burkitt lymphoma and Kaposi sarcoma, and on delivering cancer care in low-resource settings.
