CD79A (B-cell antigen receptor complex-associated protein alpha chain) is a gene. In the public catalogues the evidence so far is association rather than a proven role. Tied to Colorectal cancer, Non-Hodgkin lymphoma and Skin cancer. This dossier gathers the 0 products (0 approved), 0 trials, 0 pathways and 0 resistance routes in the corpus that involve it, with external identifiers so it can be joined to UniProt, ChEMBL, Open Targets and the rest of biology.
Required in cooperation with CD79B for initiation of the signal transduction cascade activated by binding of antigen to the B-cell antigen receptor complex (BCR) which leads to internalisation of the complex, trafficking to late endosomes and antigen presentation. Also required for BCR surface expression and for efficient differentiation of pro- and pre-B-cells. Stimulates SYK autophosphorylation and activation. Binds to BLNK, bringing BLNK into proximity with SYK and allowing SYK to phosphorylate BLNK. Also interacts with and increases activity of some Src-family tyrosine kinases. Represses BCR signalling during development of immature B-cells. Location: Cell membrane (UniProt). Locus 19q13.2 (HGNC).
