TerSera is a US specialty company whose oncology and supportive-care products include goserelin (Zoladex), rolapitant (Varubi) and telotristat ethyl (Xermelo) in the US.
TerSera Therapeutics, based in Deerfield, Illinois, is a US specialty company whose oncology and supportive care products include goserelin, sold as Zoladex, rolapitant, sold as Varubi, and telotristat ethyl, sold as Xermelo, in the United States. It acquired US rights to Zoladex from AstraZeneca in 2017, Varubi from Tesaro in 2018 and Xermelo from Lexicon in 2020, building a portfolio of hormonal therapy and supportive care products. OnCo links it to the rolapitant and telotristat ethyl drug records. Whether a company built by buying products that larger firms no longer wanted can keep investing in them is the fair question. Rolapitant and telotristat have their own pages.
Rolapitant (Varubi) is a long-lasting anti-sickness tablet taken once before chemotherapy, alongside a 5-HT3 blocker and dexamethasone, to prevent nausea and vomiting in the days after treatment.
Telotristat ethyl (Xermelo) is a tablet that cuts the serotonin that neuroendocrine tumours pour out, easing the constant diarrhoea of carcinoid syndrome when somatostatin analogue injections are not enough.
