Pioneer of the 'metasite' decentralised trial model, acquired by eMed in 2024.
Science 37, based in Los Angeles and acquired by eMed in 2024, pioneered the metasite model of decentralised trials, in which a virtual site with its own investigators and nurses enrols patients wherever they live. Its oncology work has concentrated on symptom and supportive care trials, where remote conduct is most practical. OnCo links it to decentralised and hybrid clinical trials. Whether the virtual site model can extend from supportive care into treatment trials that require imaging and infusions is the open question. The decentralised trials page carries the wider evidence.
