ImmunityBio makes Anktiva, the IL-15 superagonist approved with BCG for bladder cancer in 2024.
ImmunityBio, based in San Diego and listed as IBRX, makes Anktiva, or nogapendekin alfa inbakicept, the IL-15 superagonist approved with BCG for bladder cancer in 2024. The approval followed a long regulatory path that included a complete response letter in 2023, and the company also runs natural killer cell and vaccine programmes. OnCo links it to bladder and urothelial cancer, to the nogapendekin alfa inbakicept drug record, and to the idea of off-the-shelf natural killer cells to sweep up residual disease. Whether an IL-15 agonist can extend beyond BCG-unresponsive bladder cancer into other tumours is the open question its pipeline is built around. Anktiva has its own page.
Nogapendekin alfa inbakicept is an engineered version of the immune-boosting protein IL-15, given with BCG into the bladder, approved in 2024 for early bladder cancer that BCG alone no longer controls.
CD19 t-haNK is an experimental cell therapy whose type is not stated from ImmunityBio in phase 2 trials for hodgkin lymphoma, aimed at CD19.
Aldoxorubicin is doxorubicin, the workhorse chemotherapy nicknamed the red devil, attached to a linker that hitches it to the body's own albumin so more reaches the tumour and less reaches the heart; it beat doxorubicin in a randomised phase 2 sarcoma trial but missed the primary endpoint of its phase 3, and a new company is now trying to finish its development.
